Magnum Opus Composition of

Sri Jagannatha Dasaru

Jagannathadasa's composition, "Harikathamritasaara," stands as a pinnacle in the realm of Dasa Sahitya. It encompasses the essence of the entire Haridasa literature: from the cherished gem of Kannada, the illuminating teachings of Acharya Madhwa, the reflection of the Divine in worship, the celestial ladder leading to liberation, to the alleviation of the three afflictions of the world and the bestowal of joy upon mankind.

It presents the devotion’s nectar, the poetic treasury, the beautiful form of the Supreme Being, and the quintessence of scriptures, Vedanta, and literature. Within the Kannada literary world, this work holds a distinguished place. It has three Sanskrit commentaries and about seventy interpretations, akin to the commentaries found on Vedantic texts.

Available commentaries include:

1) Commentary by Sankarshana Wodeyar (Kannada)
2) Commentary by Guru Vijayadasaru (Kannada)
3) Commentary by Guru Shreesha Vithala Dasaru (Kannada)
4) Commentary by Droupadi Vithala  Dasaru (Kannada)
5) Commentary by Kamalapati Vithala Dasaru (Kannada)
6) Commentary by Guru Yogindra Vithala Dasaru (Kannada)
7) Commentary by Jambukhandi Vadirajacharyaru (Kannada)
8) Commentary by Jambukhandi Vadirajacharyaru (Sanskrit)
9) Commentary by Guru Jagannathadasaru (Sanskrit)

(It is widely known that the commentary by Tamraparni is included.)

In addition, a simplified verse commentary in Sanskrit by Mandabodhini will also be provided. The “Parimala” commentary by Guru Jagannathadasa (in Kannada) and the commentary by Padmanabha Dasa (in Kannada) are also part of the collection.

This comprehensive essence of Harikathamritasaara, enriched with the insights of many experienced commentators, will be made available on the website. Alongside, there will be illustrations depicting the life story of Jagannathadasaru with detailed explanations, along with pictures portraying the incarnations mentioned by the Dasas in the text.

As such, every fifteen days, a set of at least five questions and answers related to the essence of Harikathamritasaara is planned to be released according to the sequence of sections.
